Hello Everyone!
ReplyDeleteA few of my image sizes are larger than others because they would not properly publish otherwise.
As a novice to the art and photography world, my experience over the last 8 weeks has been full of information. As an accounting major, my brain automatically goes to a more analytical state of mind. Photography challenges me to merge creativity (which admittedly is not my strongest trait) and my analytical tendencies.
Apart from learning all the technical aspects of photography, like aperture, shutter speed, etc., I am still gauging the effects these settings have on a camera and how it will affect the photograph. Going forward, I would enjoy exploring these camera settings affect each other and their collective results in photographs
Additionally, this class forces me to take a perspective I hadn't before, to look at light and not a subject. For my "You Know Better" section, I was looking around my house and I found a selenite crystal and held it up to the window. I was absolutely fascinated with how the light looks as it passes through the opaque crystal, so I knew I wanted to bring it in and capture that aspect in a studio setting.
I hope to utilize the lessons I am learning in photography as a hobby. While it might not be the most applicable skill to the accounting profession, I do very much enjoy the art of photography. It is an art form that is a way for me to relax and destress, which is always an important task. So far, I am really enjoying photography and viewing everyone's artwork. The saying, "never say never" comes to mind when I think about photography. While I might not see how applicable it may be to be me at this moment or in my immediate future career, I am certainly open to exploring a bridge between photography and my business career.
Hello anna,
ReplyDeleteYour you know better part of the assignment shows variety and I love it! The crystals, the plants and the way you pictured them is fantastic! Seeing it in progress in class was a delight too. Its so fun and colorful. You aren't missing anything in the other assignments and your formatting looks so great. :)
Overall you did an amazing job at demonstrating your capabilities in photography. Your equivalent exposures stood out to me the most as the composition and lighting were interesting to view. The third set of images in equivalent exposures was my favorite. This post shows that you clearly understood what the assignment of this project was and that you excelled at experimenting in a new medium.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tryston and Hailey for your kind comments! It really is a privilege to be able to be able to learn photography is such professional and supportive setting! Your kind words mean more to me than you know! This assignment challenged me and I am quite happy with how it turned out.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at your images and seeing the ways that you experimented with the lighting and the settings on your camera. The objects you used for the "you know better" images resulted in many dynamic highlights and shadows. The composition of the first image in this set is excellent. The light interacts with those objects in such an interesting way. There is a lot of difference between the way that crystals and plants interact with light and the way you contrasted them made for strong images. Your seventh image in this set stood out to me because of the way that the light is shining on the plants compared to the crystal. I love how much variety is present in this image. On the plant on the left, both highlights and shadows are present in an interesting pattern. On the plant on the right, most of it is in shadow and the top of the plant has highlights. The crystal has luminosity at the top and is darker as you look down. The unique way that all of these different objects were lit resulted in very captivating images.
