  1. Hello all,

I want to share info about my "You Know Better" category prior to the rest of the assignment.

    Divinition
Divinition was created with the intent to share my craft. I recreated a small portion of my altar. The devil tarot card represents: being seduced by the material world and physical pleasures. Also living in fear, domination and bondage, being caged by an overabundance of luxury, discretion should be used in personal and business matters.

    Apple Juice
Apple juice was created with the initial intent to share one of my many vices. However, it turned out to be my most symbolic piece. The orange / gold apples were selected to represent the apples of Discord. The small red apples in the alcohol glasses represent problems in which left unchecked will continue to fill the glass.

    Pose
This one was just for fun, I actively decided to do something spontaneous without thinking about it. Course I did try to add a little bit of movement.

Photography is a fun way to express yourself. Learning how to properly use a camera is very useful long-term. As a future comic artist, the fundamentals of photography also apply to illustration for me. I hope to use my knowledge that I learned in photography in my illustrations.

My favorite part of the class was on how to use the camera and how to change the settings. I sure have a lot to learn but what I've learned so far will help me reach my long-term goals.

  3. Hi Tryston,
I think it is very neat how creative you got with this assignment. Choosing to use your own objects is something that I did not think of and made your photos very unique. I like your use of temperature as i think that it made your entire portfolio very cohesive. The only critique that I have would be to maybe adjust your focal lengths on some of the images to diversify them a little more.

  4. Hi Tryston!

In "You know better", your creativity makes your three series of photos a joy and pleasure to view. Little pieces of your personality really came through. I viewed your photos and then read your artist statement and this was a conclusion I came to immediately after viewing your photographs. In your first series "Divination", your use of cooler temperatures and (intentional?) camera shake really made these photographs interesting to look at. Your very first photo is my favorite in the "You know better" portion of the assignment. In your second series "apple juice" your choice to use glass really enhances the lighting you choose to use. It somehow has softer shadows in the background while capturing very harsh highlights. The last series, "Pose", was such a whimsical and fun series of photographs to view. It almost looks like the model is dancing or skipping!

    Well Done!

    1. Hello,
The shake for Divination was not intentional. However my camera was going beserk when i took that photo. I assume paranormal phenomenon but cant say for sure. Thank you for your kind words. Its much appreciated.
