Golden Hour

Blue Light (this one was harder than I expected)

  1. Hi Alexis!

In your Midday series, you mentioned your favorite photo was the last photo in that series. You also mentioned that you loved being able to capture some fall photos. In your first photo, you pointed out how the blue door on the abbey popped out so much and that the symmetry was highlighted. Your golden hour photos you pointed out photo 5 as one of your favorites. You mentioned that blue hour and mixed lighting were your most challenging. In your blue hour photos, you made sure to include a lot of different textures that complimented the blue hour beautifully. You are much to hard on yourself!

    Well Done!

  2. Alexis,
Canyon city looks like a great place to take photos. I absolutely loved your midday photo of the Abbey, the likes created by the structure and the hard shadow of the tree play nicely to create a intriguing image! I know, similar to all of us in class, that you struggled with blue hour. Which is kind of ironic because my favorite photo is your metal sculpture in the blue light. This image has a really nice texture that reflects the blue light beautifully. Another interesting image in your posting is the first image in mixed lighting. The organic shapes created by the tree overlapping the manufacture, perfectly round light has a good use of emphasis and focal point.

  3. Hi Alexis,
I really liked your midday photos. I feel that they all have a common theme and have a lot of shadows. I like that even though the sun was at its highest point in the sky, you still have some dark features to all the photos. My favorite are your golden hour photos. I think you were the only one in the group that caught golden hour in the morning and I think that this time of day brought a nice feel to these photos. I also struggled with blue hour but your photos still contain a lot of texture and the compositions are interesting. I think that these photos appear to focus more on the objects and lighting color more than your other photos. I think that this made them look more abstract.

  4. Hey Alexis!
I noticed you said that you struggled with your blue hour photos and that you shot your photos in Canon City. I think my favorite photos from each of your sets is your midday photos. I really enjoy the photo of the trees that almost look like you are looking from a worm’s eye view! I really think you did very nicely by showing contrast in your photos with the use of shadows and shape! I enjoyed looking at these again after your explanations. Really great work! :)

  5. Hi Alexis,
I enjoyed your midday pictures, and the close-ups and locations were spot on. I noticed on the blue hour that some of your photos were pretty dark. I understand blue hour can be a challenging category. You did well on a golden hour. I liked the closes up of the leaves and how the golden hour was shining on the leaves. Well done!
